StoryShare Winners Add Depth, Accessibility, 20 Free High-Interest, Low-Vocabulary Readers

Winners of the first annual StoryShare contest became rich and famous (sort-of) on the first of March and April. More importantly, their work adds text accessibility and new titles to the body of literature that is designed to meet the high interest and low vocabulary needs of teens and young adults who struggle to read. Prize money ranged from $2,000 to $10,000. Four of the winners were chosen from 16 finalists in a People’s Choice competition. And the winners are:

Best Character-Based Story: $3,000, Tammy Griffith, for Miss Wanda Rose: A Skateboarding Story

Best Use of Images or Illustrations: $3,000, Amy Lee-Tai, for Friends till the End
