June Behrmann, M.Ed. returns to education writing after teaching students with high- and low-incidence special needs from pre-K to grade six for 11 years in Fairfax County (FCPS). Honored as an Exemplary Classroom Teacher, she was her school’s technology outreach teacher (TOPS), and a district-wide IPAD innovation project leader. June was a STAR Discovery (Channel) Educator, and a mentor teacher for teachers-in-training and for the FCPS colleague assistance program. She won an ARC Educational Leadership Award as a teacher of students with significant disabilities. Earlier, she was a special education teacher and teacher-coordinator in Ohio and New York City. As a national writer, June covered special education for Education Daily and co-wrote The Discovery Channel magazine. She was writer/editor for NASDSE Counterpoint, a national special education newspaper. She was a writer for two technology projects with the Council for Exceptional Children, including one on Universal Design for Learning. Her curriculum materials for KIDSNET, a national clearinghouse for children’s media was focused on writing educational materials for ABC, NBC, CBS, HBO, Showtime, A&E and other cable channels to correlate television programming with K-12 curriculum.
